Our first session is used to gather information and collaboratively decide if there’s a good fit for future sessions. I’ll gather information about your history, current problems, and your goals for therapy. During this process, I’m working to determine if I’m able to help you and begin to put together a plan for our work together. How much you share during the first session is up to you. It’s completely acceptable for a client to let me know they’re not comfortable discussing a topic yet. This is also a time for you to ask questions and decide if you think I’m a good fit for you. The first session usually goes really quickly and it’s completely fine if not everything gets covered or if you forget to ask a question or share some information. If you choose to return for more sessions, we can pick up where we left off. If you decide there’s not a good fit, I’m happy to provide referrals to other trusted providers.

Blue Bridge Therapy does not participate with any insurance companies. Those with out of network mental health service benefits may receive some reimbursement. The best way to determine if you might receive reimbursement is to call your insurance company directly. You can download superbills directly from the client portal, or I can submit claims automatically for you using Thrizer - a third party company that links to your health insurance to verify your coverage and automatically apply payments to your deductible.
Once you meet your deductible, you have the options to use Thrizer Pay to pay your co-insurance and save money upfront, instead of paying the full rate and waiting for reimbursement (Thrizer charges a 5% fee for this service). If you prefer to wait for reimbursement, they charge a 1% fee.
Please reach out if you'd like to discuss these options more.

Yes! I work with Thrizer to verify your out-of-network benefits and submit superbills. They offer a service that can manage the reimbursement process end-to-end for you to save you the insurance headache. Once you meet your deductible, you can request an instant reimbursement to skip the insurance wait or receive reimbursements in a few weeks via direct deposit. If interested, I can invite you to the platform to set up payments and automatic claim submission.

Frequency of sessions depends on individual factors and is ultimately determined together between client and therapist. Most commonly, clients begin therapy on a weekly schedule. This frequency allows for us to build momentum and consistency toward meeting your goals. Often, clients decrease frequency once skills are developed during a maintenance phase before terminating treatment.

Licensure is state by state, and most states require that I am licensed in the state I am physically located in (NY) and the state my clients are physically located in. This gets tricky when clients travel and when trying to do family therapy with members in different states. There are initiatives aimed at addressing this issue. For now, I am licensed in NY, NC, and SC and can see clients located in these three states.
