Nicole Cuttita, LMHC
Therapy With Nicole
Through a warm, compassionate, and direct style, I help my clients gain greater self-awareness by identifying the barriers that keep them stuck. We work collaboratively to recognize, challenge, and begin to modify interpersonal patterns, habits, and beliefs that inhibit personal growth. Together, we move beyond symptom reduction toward a values-based life - one lived more consciously, with greater clarity, and a deeper understanding and acceptance of the self.
My Approach
I apply a biopsychosocial lens and my approach is process based and integrative. I put a high value on relationships - I think improving significant relationships and building strong social networks can reduce symptoms and meaningfully improve overall wellbeing. I strive to meet each client where they are and work collaboratively to find the best way forward. I pull from multiple evidence-based modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, and emotionally focused therapy. I find mindfulness practices almost always helpful to my clients and often incorporate these practices into treatment.
About Nicole
I'm a licensed mental health counselor with a background as a school psychologist in the nyc public school system. I loved supporting students, families, and educators in that setting, but over time I found myself wanting to go deeper - beyond the constraints of the school system. That led me back to graduate school for mental health counseling.
Beginning in January 2020, I started working part-time in a private group practice while continuing my role as a school psychologist. Balancing both settings gave me valuable perspective, and by the end of the 2020-2021 school year, I made the decision to transition out of the school system to pursue full-time therapeutic work in private practice, a move that felt both exciting and deeply aligned with my long-term goals.
In January 2024, I launched my own private practice - Blue Bridge Therapy - named after the Manhattan Bridge, which connects the borough I called home for nearly 15 years with the one where I established my practice. Although I originally imagined both myself and my practice staying rooted in New York City, life has a way of unfolding in unexpected ways. I’ve recently relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina, and am excited to be starting a new chapter, both personally and professionally, while continuing to support my nyc-based clients through virtual therapy.
My early work with children, parents, and teachers continues to inform how I approach therapy - attuned to early relational patterns, emotional development, and the broader systems we all exist within. I have a deep passion for working with individuals, couples, and families navigating relationship challenges. I also specialize in treating OCD and anxiety disorders. I value honesty, humor, and humility within the therapy room.
Outside of work, you’ll often find me exploring my new city and stretching the limits of what counts as walking distance - because with the right mindset, any city can be walkable, right? I’ve also been enjoying reconnecting with nature through hikes and bike rides.
